At the start of this task I thought it would be much easier to film and put together than it was. We started this by planning the shots using a storyboard and then we watched the music video again to pick out a list of everything we needed to prepare in order to re-make the video to fit in time with the original video.
22nd June: Today we got into our group of 4 to plan and prepare for the remake of our music video. We watched the video together as a group. Then we went through the video and started to create a prop list so that we had enough time to gather all the props that we needed. We went to find some locations around the school for our reccee shots so we were able to plan where we would film the different locations.
23rd June: Today we created a list of each costumes we would need to wear and supply for the dancers in our music video and for the person who play Britney to make sure we were prepared to film once we've completed all the planning. This allowed us to buy anything separate if we needed extra costumes. In this meeting, one member completed the story board for the first minute so that when filming we were able to identify each different shot in order to fit the music video to our version. Whilst they did this, I filmed myself and another team member practising the lip syncing. I found this much harder than I thought as sometimes watching the practises back sometimes it didn't look real and other times it looked too over exaggerated.
24th June: Today the footage of the lip syncing task was edited and then uploaded to YouTube. From watching this as a group, we decided Issy would be the best Britney and she was happy to do it. We planned what scenes we were going to shoot in our next lesson and completed the rest of the storyboard.
25th June: Today we filmed the scenes from the music video whereby it was just Britney in the shots. The location at which we needed to film these scenes was in a school corridor. Also during this meeting we uploaded the footage we'd already shot and put it into place on adobe premiere to match the original music video. We had to make sure that the lengths of the clip and the movement of issy's lip were in time with the original.
26th June: In this meeting, we shot some more footage for our music video. For this we needed 2 boys to feature in our video so we had to ask some extra's to do it outside of our lesson times, we found this scene more difficult as they couldn't get the timing right to fit together. Once these scenes had been shot we uploaded them onto the computer and started to edit them, but they didn't fit with the original music video so we had to arrange a time to re-shoot these.
29th June: Today we filmed the shots for the classroom as we were able to have help from other people to feature as back up dancers. This would make our video look more realistic. We found this scene difficult as there were many different shots with all different angles so getting the right shot with the right angle became a little confusing. Trying to get the speed of everyone walking out the door was also difficult as we struggled to match it to the original music video. After we had finished filming these, we uploaded the footage and put it into place.
30th June: Today we started to film the scenes for the dance scenes like we had scheduled. This task became difficult as we hadn't learnt or taught the dance before so we had to spend a lot of valuable filming time, learning the dance which was frustrating. We didn't manage to finish this scene too as our lesson time clashed with lower schools lunch so the corridor would have other students in which made it difficult for us to continue. Issy then filmed in a corridor from a chair to get the high angled shot that we needed.
1st July: Today we had to attend a UCAS event so we couldn't use this time to continue filming.
2nd July: Today we carried on filming the last of the dance scene but we came across a problem as some of the extras we used to shot the dance scenes on the 30th, weren't able to continue shooting today so we had to have some other people and teach the dance to them too. We re-filmed some of the shots too as we had missed out on some of the lip syncing and some other footage that we hadn't filmed all together. I put the footage onto the computer and fit it all into place and then continued to edit the last few shots. We didn't manage to film all of the dance scenes but we had got the majority.
3rd July: Issy wasn't at school today so we were unable to film any of the remaining dance scenes. I edited the final bit of the video and then exported it and uploaded it onto YouTube.
