Today we each pitched 3 songs in order to narrow down our choices to 2. In my group is myself, Issak and James.
Issak pitched 3 songs to us, the first being Buried Alive - Logic. He thought this would be a good song to create a music video to as we could create an interesting narrative to in order to create a relationship between the lyrics and the visuals. His narrative that he already came up with followed a strong story line. The only issue I put forward with this song is that it's just over 5 minutes long which might become a difficulty for us in terms of having enough shots and footage to not continually repeat the same shots over and over.
His second song was Dreams - Beck, we liked this song as it was quite catchy and enabled us to create an imaginative narrative or performance music video. He likes the artist and thinks the music video could have some interesting shots.
His third song choice is Ongoing Thing feat. Oddi and he chose this because he likes the instrumental however he doesn't have any ideas of what we could include in this video therefore this is my least favourite song out of his 3.
Then the next music video he liked is On Top - Flume feat. T-shirt and he thinks this song could be good for a hybrid of performance and narrative set in an urban environment. For this video it would be essential to build a really strong character to represent the song. The idea being that the video tracks the stars journey from being unknown to being 'on top' finding fame and everything that come in with it. As it is only just under four minutes the hardest part he thinks will be fitting it all in together.
His final song choice was Crackazat - Eye Light and he thinks this song could be good for a concept video as its only 2 minutes long and has no lyrics. As the song has a very fast tempo we would need a large variety of shots of obscure scenery and psychedelically imagery. He thinks finding the right location would be vital.
